Perla Sanding Joson, a beloved grandmother, passed away on the morning of June 17, 2024. Her grandson, Nathanael Pacheco, is now organizing a fundraiser to cover the costs of her funeral service and to bring her ashes back to their family in the Philippines.
Perla was recently diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis, and her health deteriorated rapidly, leading to liver failure. On the weekend before her death, she suddenly fell and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the family’s awareness of her declining health, her condition took a sudden turn for the worse, and she did not recover. Nathanael and his family were with her at Whidbey Island, watching helplessly as she took her last breath. Their relatives in the Philippines could only offer their support through video calls.
Perla’s passing has left a significant emotional void, especially for Nathanael, who described this loss as the hardest he has experienced. She was looking forward to visiting family in the Philippines in a few months, but unfortunately, fate had other plans.
In response to this unexpected tragedy, Nathanael Pacheco created a GoFundMe campaign to raise $7,000. The funds will be used to cover the funeral expenses and to arrange a flight for Nathanael and his family to bring Perla’s ashes to the Philippines in March next year. Nathanael expresses deep gratitude to anyone willing to donate and help them through this difficult time.
