The late Paul Turri was from Hazel Green, Alabama. Paul Turri passed away on June 7, 2024, after battling bladder cancer for over a year. His wife, Kelly Turri, and his close friend Mandy Powell, who is organizing a fundraiser, are now facing significant financial challenges due to his illness and lack of life insurance.
Mandy Powell created a GoFundMe campaign titled "Stand with Paul Turri’s Family in Their Loss" to raise $10,000. The funds will cover Paul’s funeral costs, outstanding medical bills, and support for Kelly in the coming months until she can access Paul’s social security benefits.
Paul was known for his dedication to his family and his love for Alabama football and their many dogs. He worked at Wilson Lumber Company and was deeply committed to providing for his family, never complaining about his early morning shifts. However, his health deteriorated rapidly after being diagnosed with stage-4 bladder cancer last year. Despite receiving disability benefits, the couple’s savings were depleted by rising medical expenses.
The community has expressed their condolences and support for the Turri family. Crystal Ann Hopkins shared on Facebook, "Heaven gained another angel yesterday from my family. But now they are together. I will always miss yall. I love you both my mommy and uncle Paul Turri." Jennifer Hopkins commented, "I’m sorry for your loss. It’s hard when the people you loved have passed on. I understand how hard it is. Both of my parents have passed away and what keeps me going is the fact they’re together. This is the time when family is so important." Rachel Haverhals added, "So sorry. Love you baby girl."
The fundraiser reflects the deep loss felt by Paul’s family and friends and highlights the ongoing financial strain they face. Mandy Powell’s heartfelt plea for support underscores the importance of community in times of grief and financial hardship.
