Patricia Escobar, a beloved member of the Bayard community, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in November 2023. Despite her valiant fight, Patricia succumbed to the disease, leaving her family and friends heartbroken.
Patricia’s sister Sylvia and her only son remained by her side throughout her battle, exhausting all their paid time off and facing unpaid leave to support her. Now, they are faced with the overwhelming burden of funeral arrangements and medical expenses, which has become financially impossible for them to manage alone.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Mon N Angelic Jimenez expressed their sorrow and asked the community for support: "All proceeds will be for funeral expenses. Please share, donate, and pray for this beautiful family! I love you Patty Escobar!"
Angelic Jimenez has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Ease the Burden for Patricia’s Loved Ones" to raise funds for Patricia’s funeral expenses. The fundraiser has raised $270 out of its $6,000 goal, with contributions from Lorraine Escobar ($100), Benardo Carrillo ($20), Teresa Lamoreaux ($50), Mariah Zamora ($50), and Kalie Coburn ($50).
The community is urged to donate directly through Cash App at $yuccastreethooligan or Venmo at @yuccastreethooligan. Angelic Jimenez emphasizes the need for collective support during this difficult time: "If you can find it in your hearts to help out, no donation is too small & it is sincerely appreciated. We’ve seen this community take care of each other during the most difficult times and we are so proud to be a part of this ‘little town.’ God bless & thank you."
Patricia Escobar’s strength and resilience were known to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her family hopes to honor her memory with the community’s help in easing their financial burden.
