The late Owen Alexander Sexton was from Cape Coral. The community and his family are struggling to prepare his burial, so this news is devastating. Owen’s close friend, Yailin Rosario, is fundraising for his funeral through a GoFundMe campaign. She has described their struggle to meet the funeral expenses due to the suddenness of the tragic accident.
"For Owen’s burial and to help support his loved ones during this difficult time, I have started a GoFundMe campaign," Yailin Rosario wrote. She aims to raise $10,000 and has already gathered $1,120 from six donations.
On 6/1/2024, at approximately 4:15 am, Owen Sexton lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident. He was known for his heart of gold and left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Friends and family have been sharing their memories and condolences on social media.
Yailin Rosario shared on Facebook, "With shaky hands, I am trying to find the courage to write and share the tragic news with all of our loved ones and friends. I am still trying to wrap my brain and heart around this. Alex, we loved you so much, we have watched you grow and become a wonderful young man. My children are hysterical knowing that you will no longer be around and love them the way you did. God isn’t fair sometimes, and I will never understand why he does what he does, we love you dearly and I hope you watch over all of us."
Other friends expressed their grief and shock. Amanda Pagano wrote, "My heart breaks for the Sexton family and all his loved ones. Owen Sexton, you are the most strong-willed, hardworking, loving, caring young man I know. I am gonna miss running into you, kid."
Sifusan Sanchez also expressed sorrow, saying, "Noo, another friend gone. When is this gonna stop? Tell David, he better consider selling his bike. I don’t know why Owen didn’t keep his car instead. God had a plan for him. Just like Brian. Rest in peace, my friend. I’m in shock."
The community has rallied around the fundraiser, and many have shared heartfelt messages and donations to support Owen’s family. Bryan Quintana, Kayla Leone, Brennan Mollica, Chloe Cutright, and Robert Weir are among those who have contributed.
This fundraising effort highlights the necessity for collective togetherness in times of crisis and the far-reaching consequences of sudden loss on mourning families. It also reflects a community’s compassion and desire to support one another during difficult times.
