The late Nik Dostanic, from Alexandria, has left his community and family heartbroken. Nik, who had battled a rare heart condition throughout his life, passed away after a prolonged surgery on June 6. This devastating news has left his spouse, Samantha Foley, and their children, Alexandria, Ella, Myka, and Adrian, struggling to cope with the loss.
Nik’s condition had made it impossible for him to obtain life insurance, adding a financial burden to the emotional toll on his family. To support Samantha and the children during this challenging time, Chloe MacDonald organized a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to raise $25,000 for the family. As of yesterday, the fundraiser had garnered $7,300 from 24 donations, with Ian Sutcliffe making the top donation of $1,000.
Nik’s brother, Stevan Dostanic, also shared his thoughts on Facebook, encouraging people to contribute. "For all those asking how to support my brother’s spouse and his kids, a GoFundMe page has been created. He lived his life with a rare heart condition, which made him ineligible for life insurance. Anything can help the family during this terrible ordeal. Thankful to all of you," he posted.
Chloe MacDonald expressed the family’s grief and faith in a message on the fundraiser page: "Our hearts are overwhelmed with deep sorrow due to the passing of Nik Dostanic. Nik has battled a rare heart condition his whole life. In March, Nik developed pneumonia which created a heart infection. Surgery had always been something that he knew was necessary, but it became imminent in March. On June 6, Nik underwent surgery, but after 20 hours the doctors could do no more."
Through their pain, the Dostanic family remains steadfast in their faith, finding peace in their belief that Nik is now rejoicing in heaven. The community continues to rally around the family, offering prayers and financial support to help them navigate this difficult time.
