The late Nigel Birch, known affectionately as "Nutty," hailed from Market Drayton and attended Grove School. His sudden passing has deeply affected his family and the local darting community.
Andrew Fletcher organized a fundraiser today to support the Birch family during this difficult time, aiming to raise £3,000. As of now, £160 has been raised through 10 donations. Fletcher, along with Sam, ADC Midlands, and the darting family, are determined to assist as much as possible.
Chris, Nigel’s son, shared his grief on Facebook: "Worst day of my life, never thought this day would happen so soon. Nigel ‘Nutty’ Birch, my father, the person who’s always been there for me, helped me out, and done anything I’ve ever asked for, has been the best dad I could ever ask for." Chris found his father unresponsive today around noon and has been heartbroken since.
Chris expressed his gratitude for the support he has received: "I’ve had loads of messages and I appreciate them all. If I don’t reply, it’s because I’m still crying over it and will be for a while." He reminisced about the good times spent with his father, highlighting Nigel’s friendly nature and love for darts.
Despite the sorrow, Chris is determined to honor his father’s memory: "Your funeral will be amazing and will be done exactly how you wanted it." He hopes that Nigel is now at peace with his own parents and vows to make him proud.
The fundraiser, spearheaded by Andrew Fletcher, underscores the community’s commitment to supporting the Birch family. Nigel Birch will be remembered fondly by those who knew him, especially in the darting community where he made lasting friendships.
