The late Michael Fink, a beloved member of the Dayton community, tragically passed away on June 30, 2024. His sudden and untimely death has left his family and friends in deep sorrow. Michael, who was a marine known for his strength and swimming skills, got caught in an undercurrent while at a rock quarry. The powerful current pulled him 60 feet underwater, and despite efforts, he could not be rescued in time.
Michael was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and son, remembered for his loving and caring nature. His passing has deeply affected those who knew him, including Cathleen Pearson, who shared her grief on Facebook: "My heart is absolutely broken. I have known Michael Fink since I was about 7 years old. He is the older brother to my bestest and longest friend Angelic. He used to pick on me, I babysat his kids… I just can’t believe this… My heart is so shattered right now!!!"
In response to this tragic event, Brianna Neal has organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist Michael Fink’s family through these tough times. The fundraiser, created by Aspen Anderson on July 2, 2024, aims to raise $15,000 to support the family’s immediate needs and cover funeral expenses. As of now, $265 has been raised through 8 donations. Contributors like Mackenzie Burkhardt, Karen Burkhardt, and others have shown their support, though much more is needed.
Michael’s family, including his sister Angelic, his mother Kathy Shoup, and his siblings Samm Shoupp and Bry Bry, are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community. They are facing a challenging period and any assistance, whether through donations or sharing the fundraiser, is deeply appreciated.
The community’s solidarity in this time of crisis underscores the importance of collective support in the face of unexpected and devastating losses. Michael Fink’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, and the efforts to help his family reflect a shared commitment to compassion and togetherness.
