Michael Costa, a 30-year-old resident of Dayville, Connecticut, tragically took his own life recently, leaving behind his wife Rachael and their three children, Keyara (9), Daxon (7), and Thaddeus (4). This devastating loss has left his family in deep grief and facing significant financial burdens.
Michael was involved in a motorcycle accident on May 24th, when a vehicle driven by Conner Pelletier, also of Dayville, struck his motorcycle at the intersection of Liberty Highway and Five Mile River Road. Pelletier was found at fault for the accident and received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way. Michael was taken to Day Kimball Hospital for treatment following the collision.
In the aftermath of his passing, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Anna Wallingford to support Rachael and her children. The campaign aims to raise $20,000 to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, immediate living expenses, childcare and education costs, and mental health support for the grieving family. So far, $1,580 has been raised, with donations continuing to come in from friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers.
On Facebook, many expressed their shock and sorrow over Michael’s death. Christine Lamothe was outraged by accusations of Michael’s reckless driving, emphasizing that he was innocently hit. Melanie Nicholson lamented the lenient infraction given to the other driver, while Diane Courtemanche and many others sent prayers for Michael. Susan Orr highlighted the dangers of motorcycle riding due to other drivers’ negligence, and Tina Hilton hoped Michael had insurance to cover his medical bills.
Michael’s untimely death has left a profound impact on his community, with many rallying to support his family. Thoughts and prayers have been pouring in, with messages of strength and healing for Rachael and her children.
