The late Mesa Fredenhagen was from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Tragically, Mesa and her best friend Kennedi passed away in an ATV accident on June 11th. Mesa, who had just turned 11, was known for her spunky, giggly nature, and love for horses, coloring, reading, and being with her favorite people. She was enjoying the beginning of her summer break when the accident occurred.
The family is now facing the daunting task of preparing for Mesa’s funeral and dealing with hospital bills and other financial burdens. Chantel Wood has organized a GoFundMe campaign to support Jen and Arien Fredenhagen during this incredibly difficult time. The fundraiser aims to raise $20,000 to alleviate the financial stress on the family, allowing them to grieve without added worries.
The community has shown an outpouring of support. Barry Wood shared on Facebook, “Our family is devastated. If you can’t send money, prayers for the family would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you and God bless.” Rachel Bachand expressed her heartbreak, saying, “Heartbreaking for both families. I cannot imagine what they’re going through. Give your kiddos a hug from me. I’m glad that have you to support them.” Similarly, Stacey Chalupa Hennessey commented, “I can.not.even imagine …I’m so sorry,” reflecting the sentiments of many others.
Donations have started to come in, with contributors like Carissa Mendoza, Sarah McCowan, Claudia Alford, Melody Christian, and Chantel Wood herself contributing to the fund. So far, $1,000 has been raised out of the $20,000 goal.
The loss of Mesa has deeply affected her family and the community. The collective grief is palpable, with many sending thoughts and prayers to the Fredenhagen family. Ginger Moss and Casdas Schoenfeld extended their condolences, while Molly Larson Berg said, “I’m so sorry…my condolences to all families affected by this awful tragedy.” Angela Marie added, “I’m so sorry for your loss. So tragic for such a young age,” echoing the shared sorrow over this devastating event.
This fundraiser is a testament to the community’s effort to come together and support the Fredenhagen family in their time of need. As Barry Wood mentioned, even prayers and thoughts are immensely appreciated, highlighting the importance of emotional and financial support in such heartbreaking times.
