The late Megan Zic was from Lindenhurst. She tragically passed away on Father’s Day after a years-long battle with brain cancer. Megan was 39 years old and is survived by her children, including her son Nicholas, who lost his mother just two days before his senior prom, and her baby son Ethan. She also leaves behind stepchildren Alex and Madison.
Megan’s struggle with glioblastoma was arduous. The tumor was removed several times, but each surgery took a toll on her. In February, she lost her ability to form new short-term memories, and she struggled to recognize her son due to his growth. By April, Megan was moved to hospice care, and in June, she peacefully passed away in her sleep.
Her family is now raising money to cover her funeral costs and to settle the debts incurred from her extensive cancer treatment. A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Dominic Charland, has been set up with a goal of $12,000. So far, $350 has been raised through three donations from Nicole Diaz, Valerie Roman, and Gladys Luna.
Megan was remembered by her friends and family on Facebook. Emma Trugman expressed her heartbreak, saying, "I’m devastated to hear of her passing. We never did get the chance to catch up. My heart breaks for her family." Sue Halloran shared, "I know Megan since she was 9 years old and she was a beautiful and loving person. My heart is broken. My deepest sympathy to you all." Theresa Siciliano and Anne Lucas also conveyed their sorrow, with Anne adding, "Devastated to hear of the death of such a loving parent and friend. My heart breaks for Megan’s family. My prayers and thoughts to all."
Megan Zic was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Her family and friends are deeply mourning her loss and are seeking support to give her the final rest she deserves.
