The late Maxine Godden passed away on June 6th, 2024, at 11:00 am, leaving her family and friends in deep sorrow. Her death has been a significant loss to all who knew her, particularly her daughters Sammy, Sinead, and her grandchildren.
Maxine’s friends and family are currently raising funds to cover the cost of her funeral. Sam Tim and Katrina Young have organized a GoFundMe campaign on behalf of the family to gather the necessary funds. As stated by Sam, "The family hasn’t chosen lightly to make a GoFundMe page but unfortunately there’s only a handful of us, and what we’ve put together simply won’t cover the cost of the funeral and wake and everything that goes with it."
The goal of the fundraiser is to collect £3,000. As of now, they have raised £100 through four donations. Katrina Young contributed £50, Kerry McDonald donated £30, Donna Lloyd added £10, and Emma Bowie gave £10. The family hopes to gather the remaining funds soon to proceed with the funeral arrangements.
Maxine Godden was remembered as a beautiful woman who wouldn’t harm a fly but would scream at the sight of a spider. She cherished her daughters and grandchildren deeply. She had a love for reggae music and often listened to David Rodigan on the radio. Maxine also enjoyed classic TV shows like "Little House on the Prairie" and "The Sweeney."
The family is grateful for the support they have received so far. As Katrina Young noted, although they knew Maxine was unwell and deteriorating quickly, it hasn’t made her passing any easier. The family has expressed their appreciation for the messages of condolences and support during this challenging time.
Donna Lloyd shared her sentiments on Facebook, saying, "Done Sam, RIP Maxine xx," to which Sam McDonald responded, "Donna Lloyd thank you. From me n Katrina x."
The community’s support is crucial as they navigate through their grief and work towards giving Maxine the respectful farewell she deserves.
