The late Matthew McManus was from Paw Paw, West Virginia. His unexpected but peaceful passing on June 9, 2024, has left his family and friends grieving deeply. Matthew, who had battled numerous health issues over the past decade, including cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, sleep apnea, pulmonary edema, and psoriatic arthritis, faced life with remarkable resilience and determination. Despite his challenges, he maintained a positive outlook and a loving disposition, endearing himself to all who knew him.
Matthew was known as a big-hearted individual who enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and his beloved dog, Little Bit. His gardening skills were inherited from his great-grandmother, Mary Nazelrod, and he was fondly remembered as having a green thumb.
He is survived by his mother, Leslie McManus, and his sisters, Tracy Eaton (Wendell), Amy White (Richard), and Jamie (Bill), as well as three nieces and three nephews. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Albert McManus, and his inseparable companion, Little Bit.
In the wake of his passing, the family has faced the significant challenge of covering funeral expenses. To alleviate this burden, Tracy Eaton has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "In loving memory of Matthew McManus." As of now, the campaign has raised $50 of its $5,000 goal, with Kendra Garcia being the first to donate.
Jeremiah Eaton, Matthew’s nephew, expressed his gratitude and sought support through a heartfelt Facebook post:
"Dear Friends and Family, As many of you know, my uncle Matthew passed away. His loved ones are going through a difficult time, and I want to support them in any way I can. That’s why I’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and provide some financial comfort during this challenging period. If you’re able, please consider donating to the GoFundMe page to support my uncle’s family. Any contribution, big or small, will be deeply appreciated. Thank you all for your love, support, and kindness during this difficult time."
Condolences poured in on Facebook, with Judy Fay commenting, "So sorry for your loss, Jer!" and Danmo Mo adding, "So sorry sweetie." Jaime LeFleur also shared, "So sorry for your loss."
Donations can be made directly through the GoFundMe page or sent to Wendell and Tracy Eaton at PO Box 77, Paw Paw, WV 25434. The family appreciates any and all support during this difficult time, whether it be financial contributions or simply sharing the fundraiser to reach a wider audience.
