Mary Tinney, a cherished member of the Crowley, Texas community, passed away on May 14, 2024, after a short but intense battle with stage 4 cancer. Her sudden decline came shortly after a recent injury in which she broke her hip, exacerbating her health challenges.
Samantha Ann, Mary’s niece, expressed her grief on Facebook, noting the rapid progression of her aunt’s cancer which took her life just yesterday morning. "Yesterday, we lost my Aunt. She recently broke her hip a few weeks ago and found out she was already in stage 4 cancer. That cancer progressed aggressively and took her from us yesterday morning," Samantha wrote. She added, "It’s times like these being miles away from family gets to me most. My heart is broken. Rest easy aunt Mary Tinney, you will be missed so much. Give uncle Larry a big hug from all of us."
To address the financial burden of the funeral costs, Patricia Newsom, a relative of Mary, has organized a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe titled "Support Mary Tinney’s Family in Their Time of Need." The family is currently facing a shortfall of $3,000 to cover the total funeral expenses. The GoFundMe page invites contributions, stating, "Mary Tinney, a beloved wife, mom, grandmother went to be with Jesus… The family is $3000 short on meeting the total cost of funeral expenses. Any donation will help to meet those needs."
The fundraiser reflects the community’s effort to support one of their own during this difficult time, ensuring that Mary’s family can grieve without the added stress of financial strain.
