The late Marlo John Bilotta tragically lost his young life at the age of 22 on July 2, 2023. The community and his family are working to honor his memory by creating a memorial site at Savoline Pond in Milton, Ontario. This initiative is organized by Elizabeth Cena and Giuseppe Bilotta, who have launched a fundraiser to support this cause.
Marlo was a remarkably kind and compassionate individual. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and coworkers. He worked at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital as a Patient Transporter and Pandemic Support Personnel before returning to construction to pursue his passion as a heavy machine operator. Marlo had a dream of becoming a motivational speaker to support individuals with different abilities who suffered from bullying and injustice, just as he did throughout his life.
The fundraiser aims to place a memorial bench and tree at Savoline Pond, serving as an everlasting tribute to Marlo’s memory. This memorial will provide comfort to his family and offer a serene place for the community to reflect and find solace. It will also remind visitors of Marlo’s vision for a kinder world, where everyone stands up for those whose voices are too soft to hear and strives to be better towards each other.
The fundraiser has currently raised $1,200 CAD out of a $20,000 goal, with donations from individuals such as Adam Bazeley, Heather Dickson, and Giuseppe Bilotta. Any additional funds beyond the memorial’s cost will be donated in Marlo’s honor to the Centre for Grief & Healing, Bereaved Families of Ontario – Halton/Peel, and the Mental Health Program at Halton Healthcare Services.
The family, including Elizabeth, Giuseppe, and Matteo, expressed their deepest gratitude for any support in keeping Marlo’s legacy alive. Marlo will be fondly remembered and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
