Mariah Brooke Norris, age 12, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Riley Children’s Hospital after suffering a stroke. Her passing has left her family and community in deep mourning.
Mariah’s medical journey began on Thanksgiving Day, 2021, when she became ill and required emergency care. A head CT scan revealed that she had a brain tumor, which led to numerous hospitalizations, radiation treatments, and surgeries at Riley Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Despite her challenging health battles, Mariah exhibited immense bravery and inspired many with her resilience and courage.
Mariah was known for her love of animals and her fondness for colorful, sparkly, and frilly things. She enjoyed dining at Olive Garden and Red Lobster and was a source of joy and positivity to those around her. Her radiant smile and cheerful demeanor endeared her to many, and she was always kind and considerate, making others feel valued.
In her passing, Mariah became a donor hero, saving the lives of two men with her kidneys. Her family is now organizing a GoFundMe campaign to cover her final expenses. As they navigate their profound loss, they express gratitude for the love and support shown to Mariah throughout her journey.
Her family plans a celebration of life to honor her vibrant spirit and big-hearted legacy.
