Maria Stella Yu, an exceptional nurse and beloved mother from Skokie, Illinois, is nearing the end of her battle with Stage IV cervical cancer. Maria immigrated to the United States in 2015 after eight years of effort. Despite facing the challenges of a new country alone, she excelled in her career as a travel nurse, receiving awards from nearly every hospital she worked at.
Her fight against cancer began in May 2022, and despite undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, she continued to provide excellent care to her patients. Her dedication to her profession and selflessness extended beyond her career as she single-handedly raised her two children, always prioritizing their needs over her own.
Now, Maria’s family, led by her daughter Shareez Yu, is preparing for her final farewell. They have organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 for her funeral expenses. The fundraiser highlights Maria’s extraordinary life and the urgent need for financial assistance to honor her properly. With Maria’s condition rapidly declining, the family is bracing for her imminent passing, seeking support and prayers from the community during this difficult time.
