The late Rose Tachjian, fondly known as "Ro-Ro," was from Peacedale, Rhode Island. Her family and community are now grappling with her loss and the subsequent financial burdens.
Rose had been battling Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and vascular disease for the past 11 years. Before 2016, she underwent multiple stent placements and bypass surgeries on both legs. In 2017, her condition worsened, leading to the amputation of one of her legs. Despite this, Rose showed remarkable strength and resilience. However, between 2017 and 2020, she required further extensive procedures on her remaining leg. In January 2020, she had to undergo another leg amputation.
Recently, Rose began experiencing excruciating pain in her left stump, which started turning color due to the lack of blood flow. The doctors presented three risky surgical options, none of which offered a promising outcome. Despite their efforts, Rose’s health continued to decline.
Rose’s husband, Mardiros Tachjian, also faced severe health challenges. He fell seriously ill unexpectedly, suffering from internal bleeding and organ failure. After a brief recovery period, he contracted Covid-19 and passed away two weeks later. Mardiros was the family’s sole provider, covering all household expenses. His death left the family in a precarious financial situation, with mounting funeral and medical expenses.
Mardiros was known for his kindness and generosity, always ready to help others without expecting anything in return. His positive outlook and infectious smile made a lasting impact on those around him. The loss of both Rose and Mardiros has deeply affected their family and the community.
Correena Tachjian, their daughter, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 to cover the family’s expenses. The community is encouraged to donate and support the family during this difficult time.
