The late Malisa Leinani Copperfield, also known as Malisa Copperfield-Nakihei, was from Kailua, Hawaii. She passed away suddenly due to medical complications, leaving her family and community in deep sorrow. Malisa was a beloved figure, remembered for her loving and giving nature, her cooking skills, and her readiness to help anyone in need.
Malisa is survived by her husband Kalani Nakihei, known as DJ Flex, and their seven children: Chelsey, Valerie, Tiare, Tatyana, Trent, Po’okela, and Tyson Nakihei. She also leaves behind one grandchild, Waikolea Nakihei. Her family is currently struggling with the financial burden of her unexpected death and is seeking support to lay her to rest.
Erin Cuelho has organized a GoFundMe campaign on behalf of Kalani Nakihei to support the family during this difficult time. The goal is to raise $15,000, and as of now, $1,635 has been raised through 17 donations. The highest donation so far is $700 from Brent Nakihei, and the most recent donation of $100 was made by Andrew Nakihei.
Tatyana Alohalani Nakihei, Malisa’s daughter, expressed her grief and love for her mother on Facebook, writing, "My heart is so heavy right now writing this. Let me begin by saying that you were a bright light in this world. You were loved by so many with the positive impact you’ve had on my life and many others in your lifetime." Tatyana also thanked her mother for her compassion and unconditional love, adding, "You no longer have to suffer, you’re in a much better place."
The community has been offering their condolences and support to the Nakihei family. Kimberly Lahela sent light and love, while Cindy Malunao-Manegdeg and Eddie Fong expressed their deepest condolences. Kasia Twarowska and Awe Brethren also shared their sorrow and sympathy for the family’s loss.
Malisa’s passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew her. Her family and friends are doing their best to cope with this immense loss, relying on the support and kindness of their community during this challenging time.
