The late Laura Marie Dollahite, originally from Donville, was a beloved member of her family and community. On January 3, 2024, her family was devastated by her unexpected passing. Laura was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, GiGi, and friend. Her absence has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Laura’s life was marked by numerous achievements and contributions. She spent her 54 years touching the lives of many. Laura attended school in both Canada and California, graduating high school early in 1987. During a visit to California after recovering from a back injury, she met Chris, who would become the love of her life and soulmate. In 1989, they welcomed their only daughter, Jasmine, into the world.
Throughout Jasmine’s upbringing, Laura was deeply involved in her extracurricular activities, serving as a Room Mom and Girl Scout leader. Both Laura and Chris were recognized multiple times as Girl Scout Volunteers of the Year. Laura never missed one of Jasmine’s soccer games, embodying the role of the ultimate soccer mom. Her dedication positively impacted the lives of many children, creating cherished memories that she often reminisced about.
Professionally, Laura was a successful realtor and extended her expertise by teaching real estate with Keller Williams in Santa Maria. Despite facing many trials and tribulations, Laura never let them change her or prevent her from enjoying the things she loved. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and provide the best advice, being someone everyone could count on.
In 2019, Laura and Chris relocated to Ohio, joined by Laura’s parents, Vicki and Lawrie, and eventually Jasmine, Brent, and Emma. The family has found it challenging to be away from their close friends and relatives.
To honor Laura’s memory, a celebration of her life is planned for August 10, 2024, in San Luis Obispo. However, the financial burden of this celebration and the final expenses has been significant for Chris and Jasmine. To help alleviate these costs, Jasmine Dollahite has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $8,000. The family deeply appreciates any support, whether through donations or by sharing the fundraiser page.
Laura’s legacy is encapsulated in her favorite saying: "Each day is a gift from God, that’s why they call it the PRESENT." Her family holds this sentiment close as they navigate life without her, honoring her spirit and the many lives she touched.
