Lang My Thai tragically passed away in a traffic accident on February 29, 2024, while riding her bicycle on Bolsa Avenue in Westminster, California. Her death has left her 19-year-old daughter, Hsin-I Lin, completely alone and struggling to manage the aftermath.
Lang My Thai and her daughter had moved to Southern California in June 2023 from Taiwan in search of better job opportunities and a brighter future. Unfortunately, their hopes were shattered when Lang My Thai was killed in the accident. Hsin-I Lin, who had already faced the loss of her father in 2019, was thrust into a situation where she had to handle everything on her own—from contacting authorities to managing the finances for her mother’s funeral and maintaining temporary housing.
In the wake of this tragedy, Hsin-I Lin has launched a fundraiser titled "A Cry for Help from an Orphan in the USA: Seeking Urgent Financial Support" to seek assistance from the community. She is aiming to raise $65,000 to cover her mother’s funeral expenses and secure a stable life. As of now, $1,170 has been raised from five donations, with contributions ranging from $20 to $500.
Hsin-I Lin’s plea highlights her dire need for financial and emotional support during this challenging time. She hopes that kind-hearted individuals who have experienced similar losses or understand the plight of orphans will extend their support to help her rebuild her life.
