The late Kwementyaye H. Wallace, a beloved figure from Alice Springs, tragically lost his life in a car accident on June 22, 2024. He was a devoted son, loving partner, and young father whose untimely death has deeply affected his family, friends, and community.
Kwementyaye was known for his love of life, family, and football. He met his life partner, Elise, in high school, and their love story blossomed over the years. They graduated from Year 12 together and later became parents to a baby son, Jnr. Kwementyaye’s loyalty extended to his in-laws, the Palmers and Silvertons, who provided a safe haven for him and his little family for the past eight years.
His involvement in the community was extensive, including his role as a runner for the Alkamilya Women’s Football Club. The club expressed their sorrow, stating, "We were privileged to witness the love and devotion he showed Elise over the years, and we’re deeply grateful for the time he selflessly gave to our club."
Kwementyaye was also studying to become a qualified tourism guide and recently graduated from Charles Darwin University with a certificate in Tourism. He worked at Standley Chasm and was known for his pride in his heritage and his love for spending time in the bush with his grandparents.
In the wake of this tragedy, the community has rallied to support his family. Naomi Walters organized a GoFundMe fundraiser on behalf of Everlyn Wallace and her family, aiming to raise $20,000 AUD to cover the costs associated with his untimely death and to provide financial security for his partner and son. The fundraiser’s page highlights the family’s need for support to bring Everlyn’s other children, who live in Melbourne and Adelaide, back to Alice Springs and to manage additional expenses.
The Federal Football Club also extended their condolences, encouraging everyone to support a fundraiser held by Souths at Traeger Park, with all proceeds going to the family.
The Alkamilya Women’s Football Club shared their condolences on Facebook, stating, "Our thoughts and hearts are with Elise, a cherished past player, niece, and sister, as she navigates the immense grief of losing her loving partner. May you all find the strength and comfort to overcome this devastating loss."
Kwementyaye H. Wallace’s legacy as a dedicated family man, a passionate community member, and a young father will be remembered by all who knew him.
