The late Kishsa Carnes was from Crookston, Minnesota. Her passing has left her family, particularly her son Alexander Carnes, in deep mourning and struggling to cover the costs of her cremation and urn. Kishsa, who had bipolar disorder, had recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and was trying to manage her condition. Tragically, she was found deceased in her apartment on June 25th, while her son was visiting family in Massachusetts.
Alexander Carnes has taken the responsibility of arranging his mother’s cremation. He created a GoFundMe campaign on June 26th, 2024, to raise $4,000 for the cremation, an urn, and keepsakes for the family. The cost of the cremation is estimated at $3,090, with additional expenses for an urn, a plane ticket, and keepsakes totaling $1,150.
As of today, $925 has been raised from 18 donations. The community has shown support, with notable contributions from Malorie Walker ($235), Shirley Poirot ($100), and Casey Howard ($15). Alexander expressed his gratitude, saying, "Any help is greatly appreciated beyond words."
Moriah McCowin shared the GoFundMe link on Facebook, urging people to donate or share the campaign to help Alexander during this challenging time. She mentioned, "Alex is 18 and having to lay his mom to rest," emphasizing the emotional and financial strain on him.
This effort reflects a son’s love and dedication to honoring his mother’s memory, despite the personal and financial difficulties he faces. The community’s support highlights the collective compassion in times of loss.
