The late Kimberly Lynn Sale-Higgins, affectionately known as Kimmy, Kim, and Momma Kim, passed away in her sleep on Monday, leaving behind a family and community deeply mourning her loss. Kimberly had been battling breast cancer for nine years with unwavering strength and bravery. She passed just one day after her youngest daughter’s 27th birthday.
Kimberly’s daughter, Amanda Nicole, expressed her heartache on Facebook: "Momma, I never imagined being on this earth without you. I am LOST. I can’t think and not ever seeing you again. My heart is hurting. I wish I could just give you a more hug and kiss. You have been the best momma and grandma we could have ever asked for. We Love you dearly and you will NEVER be forgotten."
A fundraiser organized by Amanda Nava aims to honor Kimberly’s memory and legacy, seeking to raise $10,000 to cover various expenses, including medical bills, travel costs, and a celebration of life. So far, $2,555 has been raised from nine donations. Amanda Nava shared their struggle: "Our mom’s stay in the hospital spanned over three weeks and was our first priority. We honored her wishes of bringing her home Friday, and today our beautiful light passed in her sleep this morning."
Kimberly’s impact on her family and friends is evident through numerous heartfelt tributes. Maria Higgins wrote, "I’m so sorry Kim was a wonderful person praying for you all for comfort." Mike Charice Villanueva reminisced about their time playing softball together: "So sorry, we’ll be praying for all of you. Loved your momma. Played softball with her in city league and high school. We have such great memories and would always update each other on our families when we ran into each other. Oh, how she loved you all and still does."
Crystal Lastra added, "My heart is hurting for you girls, praying for you guys. She was the best, so many good times when we all lived together." The community’s support and shared memories underscore the profound loss felt by all who knew Kimberly.
Kimberly leaves behind two loving daughters, a son, three granddaughters, and numerous nieces, nephews, and soul-binding sisters. Her love for sports, muscle cars, coffee, and special adventures defined her vibrant personality. As Amanda Nicole poignantly stated, "The kids and I will never be the same, nothing can fill this void that I feel so severely already."
Kimberly’s legacy as a healthcare professional with high enthusiastic energy and her infectious laugh will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her family and friends are determined to honor her memory and fulfill her wishes, rallying together in this time of immense grief.
