Kiana Cissell passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 6th, 2024, at the age of 25. Her death has left her family and friends in deep mourning. Kiana was known for her vibrant and enthusiastic personality, described as a whirlwind of energy. She loved the outdoors, particularly enjoying the smell of rain and beach air in summer, and spent much of her time on her 4-wheeler seeking out the biggest and deepest mud holes.
Kiana was born and raised in Kenai, Alaska, where she attended Kenai Central High School before moving to Oklahoma to reconnect with her family. She worked at RAE in Pryor, Oklahoma, wiring commercial HVAC units, a job she adored for its challenges and complexity. Her best friend, Addie Dennis, was her inseparable companion at work and beyond. Kiana also recently took up horseback riding and Lego building, creating figures like Groot, Dobby, and Baby Yoda, reflecting her playful and creative spirit.
Her mother, Brandy Cissell-Aburto, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for honoring Kiana’s memory. The goal is to raise $4,000, with $400 already contributed by donors including Thomas Carver, Erin Gahringer, and Nicole Gerow. Brandy describes the financial strain caused by the sudden funeral arrangements, which required last-minute travel and accommodations in Texas.
Kiana is survived by her mother Brandy Cissell, her brothers Robert and Dakota Cissell, her sister Jade Nicole Clay, her grandparents Robert and Linda Cutler, Ken and Amy Cissell, and Gary and Paula Hines, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her father, James Keith Cissell, is also among those grieving her loss.
A celebration of Kiana’s life is planned for June 29th, 2024, at Aurora Heights Baptist Church in Nikiski, Alaska, followed by a beach bonfire. Brandy has invited all friends and family to share their favorite photos and video clips for a presentation, and to bring their 4-wheelers, wood, hotdogs, and camp chairs for the bonfire.
Kiana’s sudden departure has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew her. The community’s support through the GoFundMe campaign and their shared memories and tributes reflect the profound impact she had on everyone she touched. As Brandy poignantly states, "This blue-eyed beauty will be greatly missed by everyone she touched. It is so hard to say goodbye, but I will see you again!"
