Betty Whitton lost her soulmate, Keith Schultz, on June 30th in an unexpected and tragic event. Keith, only 49 years old, and Betty were not financially prepared for such a situation. They were engaged to be married on October 26, 2024, and had been looking forward to their big day with excitement. Keith’s untimely death has left Betty and his mother, Joyce, in need of support for medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and household bills.
Ryan Merritt organized a GoFundMe campaign, "Support for Betty in Memory of Keith," to help with these expenses. So far, $4,075 has been raised out of the $20,000 goal, with contributions from 18 donors, including the top donation of $500 from Leigh Chandler. Ryan Merritt was the first to donate $100, showing the immediate support from friends and family.
Keith Schultz was known for his great pride in his work with Force 5 Walls, where he loved to showcase his in-progress and finished job sites. His enthusiasm for his work and his cheerful personality were evident to everyone who knew him. Keith also enjoyed captaining boats and showing people around the intracoastal waterways of southern Alabama, always with a smile on his face.
The outpouring of support and heartfelt messages on Facebook highlights the impact Keith had on his community. Betty received numerous messages of condolences and love from friends and family. Alfredo Garcia wrote, "Keith was a great guy, a teacher, a friend. He was like a second dad to me." Amanda Hartwig shared, "I’m so sorry Betty, my heart breaks for you." Jennifer Chambers added, "Oh my goodness, my heart breaks for you. I am so sorry to hear about this. Praying for you all!"
Betty Whitton expressed her gratitude, replying to many messages with thanks and love. She acknowledged the deep loss and heartbreak but also the incredible support from friends and family, stating, "We love you!!"
This fundraising effort is not just about covering expenses but also about honoring Keith’s memory and helping Betty and Joyce navigate through this difficult time. The community’s response has been a testament to Keith’s influence and the collective strength in moments of profound loss.
