Katrina Shuker, a 42-year-old single mother from Warren, Michigan, tragically lost her life on June 29th. In the early hours of that day, Katrina was being driven home by a friend when their car was struck by a vehicle involved in a police chase. The impact was fatal for Katrina, leaving behind her two sons, aged 14 and 18.
Adna Salimović, a friend and coworker of Katrina’s mother, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the costs of Katrina’s memorial service and support her children. The GoFundMe campaign, "Help Katrina’s Family Cover Memorial Costs," aims to raise $10,000. As of today, $1,080 has been raised through 10 donations, with Jasminka Salimovic contributing the top donation of $200.
Adna shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, urging the community for support: "Hi all, I have set up this fundraiser to help a dear friend and coworker of my mother’s. Katrina Shuker was the innocent victim in the police chase that took place in Warren on June 29th. She leaves behind two sons. Please, if there is anything you can give and are able to, the family would be forever grateful during this devastating time. Thank you. Please share."
The community has shown solidarity through their contributions, but more help is needed to reach the fundraising goal. This initiative underscores the collective effort to support Katrina’s family in their time of need and highlights the profound impact of such sudden and tragic events on the lives of those left behind.
