The late Karolane Paradis-Roy, also known as Kawthar, was from Ottawa. Her passing due to an infection related to childbirth has left her family and the community in mourning. Karolane, a dedicated wife and mother, reverted to Islam and embraced her new faith with fervor, sacrificing her old life to be a loving and obedient wife. She is survived by her husband Karim Guennoun and their three children: Rayyan, 9, Riyyad, 6, and baby Reda, just 4 days old.
In her memory, her husband Karim has organized a fundraiser to fulfill her wish of creating a Sadaqa Jariya. This initiative aims to build wells and support other Islamic projects she was passionate about. The goal is to raise $10,000, with any additional funds going towards more charitable works in her name.
Amira Mohammed shared on Facebook, "Please consider donating towards this fund for sadaqa jariya for sister Kawthar from Ottawa. May Allah shower her with mercy and accept her as a martyr. May Allah shower her husband, children and family with sabr and strength, ya Rab."
Karim expressed his deep respect and love for Karolane, saying, "She was an amazing wife, friend, and mother. A true Muslimah, left her family and old friends and sacrificed everything when she reverted to Islam. She was a loving and obedient wife, always sharing the joy around her despite all her problems and sadness."
The fundraiser has garnered some support, with four donations totaling $170 so far. The community is called upon to continue this support to honor Karolane’s generosity and to help achieve her charitable dreams. "We are from Allah and to him we belong," Karim wrote, emphasizing the spiritual significance of this endeavor.
Karolane’s passing is a profound loss, but her legacy of kindness and faith continues through the generosity of those she left behind.
