The late Karen Meggitt was from Holland, Ohio. Her passing was very unexpected, and her family is now grappling with the loss and the financial burden of arranging her funeral. Karen’s son, Raymond Dominguez, is organizing a fundraiser to cover the funeral and service expenses.
Raymond shared his feelings and needs on Facebook, stating, "My mother’s passing was very unexpected. The family in lieu of flowers would appreciate donations towards the funeral and service. Once we have a final date and time decided I will post that. Any donation is appreciated. Thank you."
In a heartfelt message on the GoFundMe page he created, Raymond expressed, "Those that knew my mother knew she was kind and always thinking of others before herself. Her world was her grandbabies, and she was always happy to be around. For any friends and family that would like to contribute, we would appreciate donations towards the funeral and services in lieu of flowers. Thank you for reading. Please don’t hesitate to share on your social media or with friends that may have known my mother. Any and all donations are appreciated."
The community has begun to rally around the family, with donations coming in to support Karen’s final farewell. As of now, $1,070 has been raised out of the $7,000 goal, with contributions from friends and family, including a significant donation of $500 from Tracy and Carla Ide, as well as other donations from individuals like Jennifer Aiken, Shara Lake, Robb Wistner, and Theresa Lang.
Ken Long, a friend, commented on Facebook, expressing his condolences: "Raymond, I’m very sorry to hear about your mom. My heart goes out to you and your family. She was a very humble person. I enjoyed our conversations when we would run into each other. She’ll be deeply missed."
The family’s effort to gather the necessary funds reflects their love and respect for Karen Meggitt and their desire to honor her memory appropriately. This collective support underscores the importance of community and the need for solidarity during times of profound personal loss.
