The late Kaila Bearman, a 21-year-old from South Frontenac, tragically lost her life in a boating accident on Bob’s Lake on May 18, 2024. This incident claimed the lives of three young adults and injured five others, leaving a profound impact on their families and the community.
Ian and Kate Bearman, Kaila’s parents, are enduring an incredibly difficult time as they cope with the loss of their beloved daughter. To support them, Lisa Larmon, a former colleague and friend, organized a GoFundMe campaign to create a memorial fund in Kaila’s honor. The fundraiser aims to help the Bearman family set up a legacy fund for Kaila and to donate in her memory to a cause they choose.
The community has shown tremendous support, raising $5,425, surpassing the initial goal of $3,000. The donations include contributions from various individuals, with the top donation of $250 coming from Sara and Ryan Seeds, and the first donation also of $250 from Lisa Larmon.
Lisa Larmon expressed her sorrow on Facebook, urging others to consider donating to honor Kaila’s life. "My former colleague and friend lost their daughter, Kaila, this past weekend. The Bearmans are an amazing family dealing with the most devastating time. Let’s come together and honor Kaila with this fund. Please consider giving if you can. Keep the Bearman family in your thoughts and prayers."
Other friends and acquaintances have also shared their condolences on social media. Sara Dee commented, "Truly heartbreaking. I couldn’t imagine! Prayers with the families." Erin Elizabeth added, "Oh no, I didn’t know Ian’s daughter was involved. Just heartbreaking." Mike Stefano shared his sympathies, "So sorry to hear that Ian’s daughter was involved. My condolences."
The outpouring of support from the community highlights the impact Kaila had on those around her. The funds raised will provide some comfort to Ian and Kate Bearman as they navigate through their grief and remember their daughter through acts of kindness and love.
