The late Jonathan "Jonny" Mennell tragically passed away in a road traffic collision in Newton-le-Willows on Monday. His family is heartbroken and in shock over the loss of their beloved Jonny. They describe him as a beloved son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend who always brought laughter and smiles to those around him.
To honor Jonny’s memory and ensure he receives the send-off he deserves, his family has organized a GoFundMe campaign, spearheaded by Cheryl Mennell. The fundraiser has a goal of £5,000, with £1,145 raised so far through 40 donations. Cheryl expressed immense gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends and the community.
"Hi, I’d like to begin with thanking everybody who has sent their heartfelt condolences," Cheryl wrote on the GoFundMe page. "We have been so overwhelmed with the shower of love you have shown us all, and we are so very appreciative of all of you. As you can imagine, we could never have predicted such a sudden loss, and as a family, we would want our brother to have the send-off that he deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated."
On Facebook, friends and family have been sharing their thoughts and condolences. Maia Ensor, along with Jonny’s friend Sam Lally, urged people to share the fundraiser widely to give Jonny the best send-off possible. Elizabeth Twigge also offered her support, saying, "Sending all our love. If there is anything I can do at all, please let me know."
Jonny’s unexpected death has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. The community’s collective effort to support his family during this difficult time highlights the impact Jonny had on those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
