The late Jeanette Alcon was from Lafayette, Louisiana. The community mourns her passing and remembers her impactful life and contributions. Jeanette’s career spanned various significant roles, including her time as Executive Director of the former Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, where she championed the cause of the working uninsured.
Thomas Falgout, one of Jeanette’s mentees, shared his sorrow on Facebook, recalling her as a mentor, former boss, and dear friend. He highlighted how her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support helped shape his career across different organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs, Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic, The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce, and the Foundation at South Louisiana Community College. "Her legacy will continue to inspire and impact all of us that were fortunate to have known her," Thomas wrote. "Let us honor her memory by carrying forward the values and lessons she imparted and be of service to others."
Other community members also expressed their condolences. Karen Saunier, Alice Pacetti, and Devin Hebert conveyed their sorrow, with Devin sending thoughts and prayers to the family. Ben Mann remembered Jeanette as "a shining light," while Sarah B Boudreaux, Gloria Dooley, and Bill Elliott offered prayers for her and her loved ones.
A fundraiser has been organized by Christiaan Mader and Jonny Campos to celebrate Jeanette’s life and generosity. The goal is to raise $15,000 to cover memorial expenses and establish a fund that will continue supporting the causes Jeanette cared about deeply — people and animals. The campaign was created to provide peace of mind for Jeanette’s family as they plan a memorial scheduled for August 2.
The community’s outpouring of support is a testament to the significant impact Jeanette had on those around her. As Holly Ferree noted, "I remember you spoke of her often and fondly," highlighting the widespread respect and admiration for Jeanette. The memorial fund aims to carry forward her legacy of love and generosity, ensuring that her spirit continues to inspire and uplift others even in her absence.
