The late Jayden Ledon Meiring was from Decatur, Illinois. He passed away tragically on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the very young age of 14. Jayden was being raised by his grandfather, Tim Brown, a well-known figure in the local community for his involvement in the band Jonny Vodka and as an accomplished sound technician for many other bands.
The community has been deeply affected by Jayden’s sudden passing. Tim Brown, who has given so much to others over the years, is now the one in need of support. LaVelle Hunt has organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist Tim and his family during this incredibly difficult time. The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $15,000 to cover any expenses that may arise from this tragedy.
The Lincoln Square Theater family expressed their condolences on Facebook, highlighting Tim Brown’s significant contribution to the community and his deep love for his grandsons. They described Jayden’s death as a heartbreaking loss for Tim, who has always been there for others.
Many community members have shared their sympathies online. Johnny Forbes Martin Cooper commented, "So sorry to hear this. My sincerest condolences to Tim and his Loved ones." Kelly Skarupa Burbridge added, "Prayers and strength to the family. So sorry for your loss of a young man." Suzy Grimes Randall simply posted, "Prayers," echoing the sentiments of many others.
The fundraiser has so far raised $775 from eight donations, including contributions from Kathryn Jane Young, Anonymous donors, Casey A, Ashlee Smith, and Sarah Butts. Each donation reflects the community’s support for Tim Brown and his family during this painful time.
Jayden’s passing has underscored the importance of community support in the face of personal tragedy. As Tim Brown grieves for his beloved grandson, the collective effort to raise funds for his family’s needs serves as a testament to the strength and compassion of the Decatur community.
