Jaiden Andrews, a beloved resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, tragically lost her life in a car accident on Saturday, June 22. Jaiden was known for her kindness, intelligence, and radiant smile that could light up any room. She was a graduate of Plymouth South High School, class of 2017, and continued her education at UMass Dartmouth, graduating in 2023. Jaiden was on the path to achieving her nursing degree from Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island, expected to graduate this coming December.
Debbie Semedo, a close family friend, is organizing a GoFundMe campaign titled "Support Jaiden’s Legacy: Scholarship & Final Expenses" to help with the final expenses and to establish a scholarship fund in Jaiden’s memory. The fundraiser has set a goal of $20,000, and as of today, has raised $230 from two donations. Audrey Wilson and Lisa Rego have been early supporters, contributing $30 and $200, respectively.
Jaiden’s passing has deeply affected her community, with many expressing their grief and memories on social media. Keegan Savage reminisced, "Jaiden Andrews was always the kindest person. I will never forget when she stuck up for Ashton and I…" This sentiment echoes the thoughts of many who knew her, highlighting the significant impact Jaiden had on those around her.
Debbie described Jaiden as "not only beautiful, but a smart, loving, caring young lady." The overwhelming support from family, friends, and the community through the fundraiser underscores the love and admiration people had for Jaiden.
Jaiden’s mother, Tracy, who is very close to Debbie, is undoubtedly facing an unimaginable loss. The community’s response, including heartfelt comments and generous donations, reflects the collective mourning and the desire to honor Jaiden’s legacy through the scholarship fund.
