The late Jaden Lhastnaim, whose family resides in Jackson, Tennessee, left us unexpectedly on Monday. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, and they are now facing the difficult task of preparing for his burial. Jaden had just celebrated his 20th birthday on June 26th, making his sudden departure even more heartbreaking.
Deborah Esselink, Jaden’s mother, expressed her profound sorrow on Facebook, stating, "It is with great sadness and heartache that we make this post. Our son Jaden left us too soon yesterday. We know you are in the arms of Jesus and in no more pain. We love you more than words can express and miss you terribly! Our worlds will never be the same." This sentiment was echoed by many friends and family members who shared their condolences and support on social media.
In response to this tragedy, Julian Esselink, Jaden’s sibling, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the funeral expenses and associated costs. Julian shared the difficulty of this moment, writing, "I hate that I even have to write this… this afternoon Jaden went to be with Jesus. He just turned 20 a couple days ago, June 26th. As you can probably imagine, this has been a huge shock to our family and to myself, I still can’t believe he is gone."
The GoFundMe campaign has raised $2,525 of its $5,000 goal so far, with donations from friends and well-wishers. The top donation of $600 was made by Jay Macdonald, and the first donation of $500 came from Dana and Dan Duggan. Julian expressed his gratitude for the support, stating, "I am making this GoFundMe for anyone who could help out by prayers or financially. I have never had to plan a funeral or thought I’d ever have to worry about a funeral for my brother."
The family, originally from Canada, faces additional travel expenses on top of medical bills and funeral costs. Julian’s faith remains strong despite the grief, as he noted, "I know the Lord provides, He has and always will. Please keep me and my family in y’all’s prayers, and if there’s only one way you can give, please give by praying for us!"
The community has rallied around the Esselink family, with many offering words of comfort and prayers. Jeanne Stone Newberry commented, "My heart aches for you and your family. I am so very very sorry. Praying for peace and comfort to envelop you and give you all that you need when you need it most. I love you!" Similarly, Dallas Callaway shared, "We love you Esselink’s. No words to describe the gaping loss… may you be held in Papa’s embrace. Jesus, come. Make good of this."
During this incredibly challenging time, the Esselink family has found solace in the outpouring of support and love from their community. The fundraiser not only aims to cover the financial costs but also serves as a testament to the strength of communal bonds in times of sorrow.
