Ivan Liu, a 35-year-old resident of Fremont, California, tragically passed away on May 11, 2024. Ivan was a hardworking and devoted man who migrated to the US in 2016 to support his family in Guangdong, China. Despite facing numerous challenges, Ivan managed to send at least $3,000 every month back home to cover his family’s medical expenses.
Ivan’s mother requires medication for a leg injury, his father is recovering from a stroke, and his grandmother needs daily medication due to her advanced age. To meet these financial demands, Ivan worked multiple jobs, including construction, mechanic work, Uber driving, and food delivery. His dedication often led him to sleep only three hours a night, living frugally and limiting his expenses to necessities like gas and food.
Ivan was found unresponsive in his rented room and was later pronounced dead due to Hemopericardium, a ruptured myocardial infarction, and a thrombus in his right coronary artery. His death has left his family devastated and struggling to afford their ongoing medical treatments.
In an effort to support Ivan’s family during this difficult time, his friend Josephine Diep has organized a fundraiser. The goal is to raise $60,000 to help cover their medical expenses and funeral costs. As of now, only $450 has been raised from three donations. Ivan’s family is considering quitting their medications due to financial constraints, making this fundraiser critical for their survival and health.
Josephine Diep’s heartfelt plea highlights the urgent need for financial assistance to help Ivan’s family endure this tragic period without the added burden of financial insecurity.
