Homer and Helen Flickinger, who passed away 15 and 12 years ago respectively, are currently without a tombstone at their final resting place in McComb, Ohio. This situation has come to light thanks to their granddaughter, Lisa Vollmering, who is organizing a fundraiser to honor their memory with a proper monument.
Homer Flickinger was a veteran who enjoyed fishing, gardening, and participating in barbershop quartets as a bass singer. Helen Flickinger, the mother of five children, played piano and was a contortionist in her younger years. The couple were deeply religious, cherished their family, and were known for making delightful holiday treats every Christmas.
Lisa Vollmering has shared her heartfelt plea on Facebook, stating, "Friends and family, it was with great sadness that I recently learned my grandmother and grandfather are without a tombstone at their final resting place. Any amount will help. I thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart." Her fundraiser aims to raise $1,950, of which $400 has been raised so far through two donations, one from Lisa herself and another from Robert Ford.
Robert Dustin Ford, another family member, expressed his sentiments on Facebook, referring to his grandparents as "The other half of my amazing roots!" and "The Soldier & the Ballerina!" His comments reflect the deep affection and respect the family holds for Homer and Helen.
The community is coming together to support this cause, reflecting the collective effort to honor the legacy of two beloved individuals who left a lasting impact on their family and friends.
