The late Hiram Palimo’o III, a respected community figure from Honolulu, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2024, at the age of 53. Hiram is survived by his three children, Jacob, Zorich, and Ashlee Palimo’o, who are now seeking support to give their father the memorial he deserves. Hiram’s sudden death has left a profound void in the lives of his family and the community.
Hiram was a dedicated coach for Moanalua High School’s wrestling and judo teams, where he played a pivotal role in their successes. His passion for sports was rooted in his own achievements as an all-star football player for Farrington High School and later as a center for the University of Hawaii’s celebrated 1992 team, which won the WAC and Holiday Bowl championships.
In a heartfelt GoFundMe campaign, Ashlee Palimo’o shared, "We want to give our dad the memorial he deserves. He was a selfless man who worked tirelessly to support us and always made sure everyone was good before himself." The campaign, titled "Honoring Hiram Palimo’o III: A Memorial Fund," aims to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of his funeral.
The community has begun to rally around the Palimo’o family. Robin Lorico expressed support on Facebook, writing, "Anything helps my Palimo’o family during this difficult time. Mahalo so much for the love and support towards my cousins Jacob, Zorich, and Ashlee as they are still mourning the loss of a great & humble man, their Dad Hiram Palimo’o III."
As of today, the fundraiser has received its first donation of $10 from Taryn Titcomb. The Palimo’o family deeply appreciates any contributions to help them navigate this challenging time. Their campaign reflects not only their need for financial assistance but also their desire to honor Hiram’s legacy and the impact he had on his community.
