Hilario Santos Ek, also known as Lacho, passed away on May 3, 2024, in San Francisco. His death has left his family and friends in deep mourning, and they are currently raising funds to bring his body back to his hometown, Akil, Yucatán, Mexico. Hilario’s mother, Adela Ek Chulim, traveled from Yucatán to San Francisco to claim her son’s body.
A GoFundMe campaign titled "Gastos Funerarios (Lacho)" was organized by Landy Nic to cover the expenses of transporting Hilario’s body and for his funeral. Bruno Livan Santos Ek, a close friend, shared on Facebook: "Friends, for those who like to support to bring back the body of my brother Hilario Santos (Lacho) to his people in Akil, Yucatán, we will thank you wholeheartedly. Any donation can be made at my house on street 27 x 10 and 12, the mamey-colored house next to the florist of my aunt Tere Montalvo, or through the account number 4217470063210021."
Bruno Livan Santos Ek further requested help from friends including Jesus Ucan Cocom, Lupita Ucan, Deysi Manrique Ceca, Yasmina Novelo Chi, and Arely Yam Chan. The post emphasizes the collective effort needed to support Hilario’s family during this difficult time.
The outpouring of support from the community highlights the deep impact Hilario had on those around him. Friends and family are coming together, sharing the fundraiser, and encouraging others to contribute to bring Hilario back to his final resting place in Akil.
