Kirsten Castellanos from Olympia, Washington, is currently organizing a fundraiser to help her sister following the tragic loss of her husband. Kirsten’s sister faced a harrowing ordeal that began over a year ago when her husband underwent heart surgery. The procedure, expected to be a simple one-day hospital stay, took a devastating turn, leading to months in ICU.
Initially, he showed signs of recovery and was moved to rehab in June, then to assisted living in October, with hopes of returning home soon. However, the situation deteriorated when the husband’s adult children, who were close in age to his much younger second wife, became hostile. They managed to push her out of his life through false allegations shortly after his move to assisted living. Within two weeks of their separation, he was back in ICU, and sadly, he passed away on December 1st.
The grief for Kirsten’s sister was compounded by not being allowed to see him in his final days or even view his body immediately after his death. As his legal next of kin, she eventually arranged the funeral but continues to face severe mistreatment from his family. They have levied false allegations against her, dragged her through a contentious probate process, and left her with no job, income, or funds for legal fees.
In response to this heartbreaking situation, Kirsten Castellanos has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $15,000 for her sister’s legal expenses. The goal is to help her sister fight these false claims, secure what is rightfully hers from her husband’s will, and find peace during this incredibly difficult time. So far, the fundraiser has garnered $115 from two donations.
