The late Haven Lemmons, a 17-year-old from Bowling Green, Kentucky, was taken from her family and friends this morning. Her cousin, Chelcie Belcher, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, asking for prayers for Haven’s mother, Ashly Herald, and grandfather, Jimmy Herald. "My sweet cousin Haven Lemmons was called home this morning to be with Jesus. She was taken from us way too soon! We love you sweet girl!" wrote Chelcie.
Haven fought bravely for 29 days in the PICU at Norton Children’s Hospital following a traumatic incident. Despite undergoing several surgeries and battling various complications, including significant brain damage, compartment syndrome, renal failure, cardiac arrest, and pneumonia, she ultimately passed away. Haven was an only child, and her mother, Ashly, remained by her side throughout her ordeal.
A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Brittany Hesson to help cover Haven’s funeral expenses. The fundraiser aims to raise $15,000, as Haven did not have life insurance, and her family is facing unexpected financial burdens. Brittany expressed her gratitude for any support, whether through donations or prayers. "Pray for Haven’s mom, Ashly, and her Papaw, Jimmy. Pray for the rest of her loved ones including her Grammy Penny, her aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends," she wrote on the fundraiser page.
The community has shown an outpouring of support on social media. Many have shared their condolences and prayers:
- Heather Dawn Wise: "Sending Love and Prayers!! Sorry for y’all’s loss!!"
- Sara Howard: "So sorry for your loss, Chelcie. Sending many prayers for you all."
- Kim Bowers: "Ohhhh nooooo prayers for you all!!"
- Anita Kaye Charlton: "Our hearts are broken. My granddaughter is one of her best friends. I am so sorry for the loss of this precious baby."
- Frances Whobrey: "I’m so sorry, now maybe that man can be charged twice."
Haven’s tragic passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. The community’s collective prayers and support reflect the profound impact she had on those around her.
