The late Gregory Merrow, affectionately known as Greg, was a cherished resident of Slidell, Louisiana. Greg passed away peacefully this week after a brave battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew him. As the Merrow family and community grieve his loss, they find solace in the countless memories and lessons he shared.
Greg was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. His wife, Margaret Merrow, and their family had been his steadfast caregivers, supporting him through two rounds of stage 4 metastatic esophageal cancer and the aftermath of a debilitating hemorrhagic stroke that left him wheelchair-bound.
A memorial service in honor of Greg will be held on July 5, 2024, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell, followed by a procession to Crow Cemetery in Lacombe, Louisiana. Friends and loved ones are invited to join in celebrating Greg’s life by sharing stories and pictures that reflect the joy he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Greg Merrow Memorial Fund, which has been established to assist Margaret with unexpected final expenses. Despite their efforts to plan ahead, the costs have exceeded their expectations. Additionally, Margaret faces the loss of Greg’s benefits and income, adding to the financial strain during this difficult time.

The community’s prayers and kind words have been a source of comfort for the Merrow family during this challenging time. Margaret’s fundraiser for Greg has already raised a portion of the necessary funds, with hopes to reach the goal to alleviate the financial burden she faces.
Greg Merrow’s legacy of love, dedication to his family, and the warmth he spread will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
