On Sunday, May 19, 2024, the community of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, was devastated by the tragic loss of George Wescott, affectionately known as "Wes." Wes and his son Georgie were returning from a birthday party when they were involved in a severe accident. Despite the efforts of medical personnel on the scene and at the hospital, Wes’s injuries were too severe, and he could not be saved. Georgie was also transported to the hospital, where he underwent evaluation and treatment. Thankfully, after several days, Georgie was discharged and is expected to make a full recovery from his physical injuries. However, the emotional void left by his father’s passing will be felt forever.
Wes leaves behind his fiancée of 22 years, Justine, and their two children, Jaylyn and Georgie. He was immensely proud of Jaylyn’s achievements and shared a close bond with Georgie, enjoying activities such as fishing, camping, and hunting together. Wes’s commitment to his family and friends was unparalleled, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his immediate family, Wes is survived by his brother Brian, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, cousins, and an extended family of friends who had become like family. His dedication to family, both biological and chosen, was a cornerstone of his life.
A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Nathan Lehman to support Justine and her family during this difficult time. The fundraiser aims to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses and other obligations, allowing Justine to focus on caring for herself and her children. As of now, $550 has been raised out of the $10,000 goal from seven donations.
Jessie Ensminger shared the fundraiser on Facebook, urging, "Any donation is more than welcome and will be a blessing for the family. Please share this."
The community has come together to support Wes’s family, reflecting the deep impact he had on those around him. This fundraiser is not just about easing financial burdens but also about honoring Wes’s memory and the love he had for his family and friends.
