The late Gavyn was from Alma, Georgia. Early this week, he was life-flighted and placed on full life support. He was removed from life support mid-week and remained in a vegetative state until he passed away. His uncle, Randall Lankford, has been organizing a fundraiser to help cover the medical and funeral expenses, as Gavyn had no life insurance.
The fundraiser, titled "Gavyn is in the Arms of Jesus ❤️ No Life insurance," was created on June 30th, 2024. Randall explained the difficult situation: "Creating this GoFundMe is both a necessity and a step outside my comfort zone. I am reaching out to kindly ask for your support." The financial goal of the campaign is $10,000, but as of now, only $770 has been raised from 18 donations.
The family is facing significant financial challenges due to Gavyn’s unexpected and tragic passing. Randall emphasized the burden on his mother, Gavyn’s guardian, stating, "The funeral cost is beyond what my mother’s financial capabilities can handle."
Despite the difficult circumstances, the community has shown support. The most recent donation of $50 was from Jennifer Dunlap, while the largest contribution of $100 came from Brandy Morrison. The first donation of $25 was made anonymously.
Randall expressed his deep gratitude for any support, writing, "Your kindness would mean the world to us. I want to express my sincerest gratitude for considering it or even reading this far. Thank you for taking the time to read this."
The family is navigating their grief and the financial strain of losing Gavyn. The fundraiser reflects their plea for help and the community’s response, highlighting the importance of collective support during such trying times.
