Franklin Saquipay, a 23-year-old from Peekskill, New York, tragically passed away on June 27, 2024, after suffering a cardiac arrest on June 25. This sudden medical emergency led to severe brain damage, and despite doctors’ efforts, Franklin was diagnosed with brain death two days later.
Franklin was deeply loved by his family and friends. His sister, Maria Saquipay, shared her heartbreak on GoFundMe, explaining that Franklin had been the baby of the family, known for his limitless kindness and strength. "Despite having struggled with so many health problems since he was a child, he never let it get his spirits down. His strength was something we all admired. My brother’s passing is leaving a huge hole in our family," she wrote.
Maria has organized a fundraiser to help cover the funeral expenses and give Franklin the tribute he deserves. The goal is to raise $10,000 to support the family during this difficult time. Jill Geoghegan, a friend of the family, also expressed her sorrow on Facebook, describing Franklin as "an amazing young man with a huge heart."
"His family and friends are devastated," Jill wrote. "A GoFundMe has been set up to help with funeral expenses and other unexpected costs. Any donation is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this post. Your support will provide much-needed relief during this incredibly difficult time, and allow the family to focus on grieving and healing."
The Saquipay family is now leaning on their community for support to navigate through their grief and to honor Franklin’s memory.
