Erik Kitt passed away on Saturday, June 1st, after a brief illness. Erik was a devoted advocate for Minnetonka Swimming and served as the Anchor Club President and a Minnesota Swimming Official. He was a loving husband to Jen, a proud father to two daughters, Ellery and Regan, and a positive influence in the aquatics community.
Services will be held at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home in Edina, MN, on Monday, June 10, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM. The Minnetonka Swim Club shared, "Erik was a tireless advocate for Minnetonka Swimming and loved his roles… He will be missed terribly by everyone who knew him."
A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Diane LaMere, has been set up to support Erik’s family. The fundraiser has raised $1,050 of its $10,000 goal, with donations from community members such as Cheryl Kittelson and Erin Duininck. The page describes Erik as a positive force who was proud of his family and had a profound love for his wife, Jen, and their daughters.
Erik’s dedication to his family and community was evident in his life choices. He moved from Wisconsin to Minnesota, where he and Jen built their careers and raised their family. Erik was passionate about swimming and took an active role in his daughters’ sports activities. He served as a USA Certified Swim Meet Official, board member of the Minnetonka Anchor Club, and was deeply involved in the Minnetonka High School Girls Swim and Dive team.
Erik’s commitment to the Minnetonka Swim Club was remarkable. He challenged the status quo to ensure top-notch programming and facilities. His enthusiasm for the sport and community building was unmatched, as he fostered camaraderie among swim families.
As the community mourns Erik’s loss, they rally to support his family through this difficult time. Donations will help ease financial pressures and honor Erik’s wishes for his family. "Erik was a positive force in our community, and his legacy of kindness, commitment, and community spirit will live on through all who knew him," the GoFundMe page states.
