Dylan Thomas Edwards, born on May 15, 1993, tragically took his own life on May 31, 2018. Dylan’s best friend, Jessica Hines, has been deeply affected by his death, struggling with feelings of guilt and grief for the past six years. Dylan and Jessica shared a close bond, often discussing various topics, including conspiracy theories. One particular conversation about the government led Dylan to declare that he would die on his own terms, a statement that alarmed Jessica but, regretfully, did not prompt her to take immediate action.
Jessica, only 19 at the time, felt overwhelmed and uncertain about how to respond to Dylan’s distressing comment. Three days later, Dylan committed suicide, leaving Jessica with a heavy burden of guilt, believing that she could have prevented his death had she spoken up or contacted his mother.
In an effort to find closure, Jessica has decided to memorialize Dylan with a tattoo that symbolizes his memory. Dylan had three passions: vintage gaming, conspiracy theories, and root beer. Jessica began the memorial tattoo with a Nintendo controller, intending to create a full sleeve from her elbow to her wrist. However, the initial tattoo artist botched the line work, deepening Jessica’s despair over honoring her friend’s memory.
After seeking therapy, Jessica is now ready to complete the memorial tattoo properly. She has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise $500 for the tattoo’s completion, as she is currently living paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford the cost on her own. Jessica hopes that kind souls will help her achieve this goal, ensuring that Dylan’s memory is appropriately honored and that she can find some semblance of peace.
