The late David Smelcer from Boone, IA, suffered a severe brain injury and tragically could not sustain life. This unexpected event has left his family in a profound crisis. David was a devoted father of three children, with his eldest son, Mason, only 20 years old, now facing the overwhelming responsibility of managing all the financial obligations for David’s end-of-life care and funeral.
To support David’s children, his sister-in-law, Miranda Plate, has organized a fundraiser. The goal is to raise $5,000 to help cover medical and funeral expenses. So far, $500 has been raised from five generous donors, including contributions from Martha Sparks, Dana Parker, Danielle Godwin, and Barbara Sirovatka.
Miranda Plate shared on the fundraiser page, "We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for help. My brother-in-law, David Smelcer, has suffered a severe brain injury and, tragically, will not be able to sustain life. David is a devoted father of three beautiful children, and his sudden injury has left his family facing an unimaginable crisis."
