The late David "Chip" Ricketts was from Sterrett, Alabama. The community and his family are in mourning as they prepare for his memorial. His mother, Melanie "Muffet" Waters, is receiving an outpouring of support from friends and family. Molly Chew Baker has organized a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help with David’s memorial expenses.
The fundraiser, titled "Support for David Ricketts Memorial Expenses," has raised $400 of its $4,000 goal so far, with donations from Louisa Evans ($125), Valerie Caterinicchia ($50), William Fisher ($100), Tracy Bowers ($100), and Margaret Jeffords ($25).
On Facebook, Molly Chew expressed her grief and called for support: "Unbelievable loss of this precious soul. My best friend has lost her beloved child. We need you! Please contribute and share. Thanking you in advance!"
Melanie Waters shared her profound sorrow: "I love you so much! You have been my rock these last almost 24 hours!! And to do this for us? I’m forever grateful! This is worse than pain….I just can’t describe it in words…" The community has shown immense solidarity in this tragic time, rallying to support the family through donations and heartfelt messages.
The funds raised will be used to cover the memorial expenses, and the family is deeply appreciative of any contributions, no matter how small. This collective effort reflects the community’s compassion and the desire to help ease the burden on David’s family during this incredibly challenging time.
