The late Dana Harshaw was from Decatur, Georgia. Her sudden death has left her family and community heartbroken and struggling to cope with the loss. Dana’s goddaughter, Shanti Lawrence, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her funeral and memorial services. As of yesterday, the fundraiser has raised $65 of its $3,000 goal from three donations.
On June 11th, 2024, Dana was rushed to Grady Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. This tragic news has left her family devastated. Shanti Lawrence, expressing her grief, shared, "It breaks my heart that my youngest sister is gone. She leaves behind her kids, me, our brothers, and her nieces and nephews. I never imagined that I would lose my baby sister before she lost me. It hurts a lot that I didn’t even get to say goodbye to her."
Dana Harshaw was a beloved mother of five children, who are now grieving the loss of their mother. Tiffany Allocca, a close friend, shared on Facebook, "She leaves behind 5 children who truly loved her. Our hearts are heavy with the loss. All donations are appreciated and welcomed."
The community has come together to support the family during this difficult time. Donations are slowly coming in, with contributors like LaMarcus Smith and Beronica Gates, and even an anonymous donor, showing their support. R.E. Dana, another friend, expressed, "You’re loved and missed beyond expression."
Shanti Lawrence has emphasized the family’s gratitude for any help they receive, stating, "We will be so grateful if anybody could chip in and help us give her a proper Funeral and Memorial Service. Anything will help. Please and thank you."
This fundraising effort reflects the community’s need for collective support in times of crisis and highlights the challenges families face when dealing with sudden losses. Dana Harshaw’s family hopes to gather enough funds to honor her memory and provide a proper farewell.
