The late Damarko Angelus La’Shon Locklear was a two-year-old boy from Asheboro, North Carolina. His unexpected passing has left his family in deep grief, and they are seeking support to cover his funeral expenses and help them through this difficult time.
According to his mother, Carrie Graves, and his grandmother, Amy Locklear, Damarko appeared healthy and full of energy on the day before his passing. He spent the day playing outside with his family and showed no signs of illness. However, on the morning of May 11, 2024, he was found unresponsive in his bed.
Carrie and Amy detailed the heartbreaking events leading up to his passing. Damarko had been snoring and crying a little in his sleep, which they did not recognize as an emergency. When his grandmother tried to wake him for breakfast around 7:15 a.m., she found that he was not breathing. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of his sudden death.
In the wake of this tragedy, the family has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $5,000 for funeral expenses and to support Damarko’s eight-month-old baby sister, whom he adored. So far, the campaign has raised $25 from a single donation by Kayla Ezell. The family is asking for any contributions to help them navigate this "rough time of need."
"We miss you, Marko. Gone but never forgotten, baby boy," the family expressed in their plea for support. They are grateful for any assistance and emphasize the love and loss they feel for their young son. The fundraiser reflects the family’s struggle to cope with the sudden and unexplained loss of a beloved child and their plea for the community’s help in honoring his memory.
